I help teams ship with confidence and keep releases calm.
I'm Tylor Mayfield, a QA automation and DevOps engineer focused on dependable deployments. I build the tests, pipelines, and habits that uncover problems early and make production feel predictable.

What I focus on
Reliable software starts with reliable systems. I help teams build the practices and tooling that keep incidents rare and recoveries fast.
I've spent the last eight years in fintech and insuretech, pairing QA automation with infrastructure to keep feature delivery steady. I prefer long-lasting solutions: tests that offer immediate context, pipelines that surface risk early, and observability built into the release path.
Teams bring me in when launches feel chaotic. Together we establish the coverage, environments, and release rituals that make shipping calm. It's about protecting focus so engineers can solve customer problems instead of firefighting production.
Outside of work, I volunteer with the VINS Nature Center, rehabilitating injured birds and sharing conservation work with kids. It's a slower pace that reminds me patience is an engineering skill too.
How I help
- Automated testing that protects core flows and offers clear, fast feedback to engineers.
- Deployment pipelines that are observable, auditable, and easy to operate during incidents.
- Compliance and security work (HIPAA, SOC 2) that integrates with product development instead of blocking it.
Selected work
Practical platforms and systems currently in use.
Pet service management platform
BarkOnTrack
A lean platform for pet professionals with transparent billing, scheduling, and client management that keeps more of their revenue in-house.
- Built Stripe-based payments and invoicing with clear reporting.
- Designed CI pipelines with automated regression coverage for core booking flows.
- Defined observability and alerting so incidents are surfaced quickly.
Summary
Stack: Next.js · TypeScript · Tailwind CSS · Stripe
Outcome: Professionals keep 98% of earnings versus 70% on incumbent platforms.
Self-hosted media streaming
Owncast
A privacy-first audio streaming experience that syncs from personal cloud storage, works offline, and avoids ads or tracking.
- Implemented offline-first PWA with IndexedDB caching and Web Audio playback.
- Automated deployment pipeline for self-hosted environments with blue/green releases.
- Created health checks and diagnostics to keep home servers observable.
Summary
Stack: Next.js App Router · TypeScript · Web Audio API · IndexedDB
Outcome: 100% ownership of media library with consistent playback on every device.

Outside of work
Getting outside keeps the work grounded. The same patience and curiosity show up in the systems I build.
Time outdoors keeps my work grounded. Most weekends I'm on Vermont trails with Cassie and Vidia—two dogs who are always ready for another mile. Stepping away from the keyboard makes problem-solving feel lighter.
I also volunteer with the VINS Nature Center, helping rehabilitate injured birds and leading education programs. The patience and observation required there translate directly into engineering work.
Slow, consistent progress
Hiking reminds me that steady pace beats shortcuts—same with shipping software.
Built-in perspective
Cassie and Vidia are excellent at reminding me to keep boundaries and stay curious.
